The Moscow psychological service for the population conducts free and awesome courses for pregnant women. I went to a bunch of different free events from commercial courses, shops, etc., but these courses are the most complete, high-quality and useful.

You need to sign up about a month in advance, and you need to start taking courses between 20 and 30 weeks of pregnancy. It so happened to me that I either take leave until maternity leave, or the next group starts on the eve of giving birth. So I took a vacation and had a great time. Keep these temporary features in mind so as not to fly by.

The service has branches in different districts of Moscow, which is great. I’m not sure if this is possible, but in general I took 2 courses from this service in different areas and with different teachers, which I’m incredibly happy about)).

Therefore, I will essentially write 2 reviews in one.

1. Courses at metro Tekstilshchiki

Delightful courses, a concentrate of useful information. Very clear instructions, they trained breathing, learned to swaddle, watched thematic films. Very useful topics and practical skills. There were a lot of medical aspects, it was simply unrealistic in terms of understanding all these things.

It’s convenient that it’s a 15-minute walk from the metro, no more, and you don’t depend on ground transport. I highly recommend these courses; you will feel much calmer and easier during childbirth after completing them.

And yes, there is an emphasis on childbirth, your preparation, going through lactation crises, etc.

In Tekstilshchiki, groups start quite often, but if you suddenly have a deadline, they run express groups for a fee.

Take with you: passport, notepad, pen, food, tea. There is a boiler with hot water, you can drink during the break, take tea bags from home. There is also a cooler.

2. Courses at metro station Vykhino (branch Vykhino-Zhulebino), Volgogradsky Prospekt, 197

I took a course in Vera Viktorovna’s group. I really liked it! Deep analysis, very detailed analysis of the stages of child development. I understood a lot about myself and where certain problems and traits come from (it is clear that from childhood, but it becomes clear where the failure was). A complete psychoanalytic course.

Here the emphasis is on education, on building relationships with the child, mainly on what will happen after childbirth and how to properly build a relationship with the child, so that later he does not roll around on the floor in your stores and so as not to fight in hysterics on various occasions.

Directions (15 minutes from the metro by bus + 5 minutes on foot): Vykhino metro station, go to the other side of the road (the stop on the left) and take bus 209 to the final “138 kv. Vykhino”. Cross the zebra crossing to the other side and go a little to the left past the sports box. Then you need to go around the house and you have arrived. A dark blue grate at the entrance and a bunch of steps are a landmark.

I think both of these courses are extremely important, they are completely different. Some are more about physiology, others about education. And nowhere on the Internet have I found such complete information.

The courses last about a month, classes 1-2 times a week for 3 hours. They have a website and a contact group. In addition to courses for pregnant women, all departments conduct training on various topics. And in this service you can get up to 10 individual consultations with a psychologist per year, this is also very cool.

3. Not only for pregnant women: This service also has a toll-free telephone number 051 in Moscow; you can call in emergency situations and get advice from a psychologist.

P.S.: You must be registered in Moscow, keep in mind.

All my reviews on the topic of pregnancy:

1. Courses for pregnant women/preparing for childbirth - Moscow service for psychological assistance to the population - I highly recommend it. Gorgeous!

2. Meeting for expectant mothers Babadou “Two in One”, Moscow – you can go for gifts

3. Maternity pillow Mom’s Choice – very useful at 9 months

4. Free master classes in Olant, Moscow - I recommend going

5.B Free master classes: Academy of Smart Motherhood, Moscow – didn’t like it

At antenatal clinics, they often create free courses for pregnant women, classes taught by obstetricians-gynecologists. In these courses, expectant mothers are provided with the necessary medical information about pregnancy, periods of labor, the newborn and its care, etc. Usually there are no practical classes in such courses, but, of course, they are a source of useful information, give you the opportunity to ask questions to a specialist and serve as a complement to visits to the antenatal clinic.

Unlike courses at antenatal clinics, paid courses usually include in their program practical classes in physical education, swimming, and water aerobics for expectant mothers. Classes can be taught by medical specialists (obstetricians-gynecologists, obstetricians), psychologists, teachers, sports instructors specializing in working with pregnant women. As a rule, such courses are a kind of “clubs” where future parents have the opportunity not only to receive all the necessary information about pregnancy, childbirth and children, but also to communicate, make new acquaintances and friends, communication with whom can be continued after the birth of their babies.

Course programs for pregnant women

Course programs for pregnant women usually include several blocks of theoretical information, psychological training and practical physical education (gymnastics, swimming).

During courses for pregnant women, an obstetrician-gynecologist tells expectant mothers about the normal course of pregnancy, the characteristics of each trimester, how the child develops, and the “critical” periods of pregnancy - the most responsible and vulnerable in terms of its successful course, as well as the health of the mother and child. ; about numerous “dos,” “cans,” and “don’ts” that relate to all aspects of a pregnant woman’s life: medical procedures and tests, regularity of examination and observation by doctors, nutrition, hygiene, recommended level of physical activity, work and rest schedule, the ability to continue working and its timing, etc. Briefly provides information about various medical procedures that may be needed during pregnancy and childbirth - for example, diagnostic procedures (amniocentesis, cardiotocography, etc.), methods of drug pain relief for labor, stimulation of labor, cesarean section, etc.

Practical classes with a doctor or obstetrician train the necessary skills of proper breathing during childbirth, mastering the basic principles of independent pain relief during the labor process (massage, self-massage, etc.). Future fathers are also invited to such classes if it is decided that they will be present at the birth. As practice shows, often the help of a husband or relatives experienced in these matters (mother, sister, etc.), especially those who have completed similar courses, turns out to be invaluable support for the expectant mother during childbirth.

In addition, several classes are devoted to the issues of caring for a newborn (feeding, bathing, hygiene, walks, massage, vaccinations, etc.), establishing breastfeeding, and the successful physical, emotional, and intellectual development of the child.

Due to significant hormonal changes during pregnancy, pronounced changes in the psycho-emotional sphere of a woman can occur. This problem can be especially relevant for anxious, overly impressionable, emotional women, for whom the period of pregnancy, preparation for childbirth and the birth of a baby can become a rather difficult period psychologically. In such situations, the help of a professional psychologist is invaluable, classes with whom in courses for pregnant women will help the expectant mother acquire greater resistance to stress, emotional stability, and teach various techniques relaxation, calmness, switching attention, which, of course, will be very useful both during pregnancy and at the crucial moment of childbirth. Often during classes for pregnant women, topics of family relationships are discussed, which inevitably undergo changes during pregnancy and with the birth of a baby. It is useful and beneficial for improving mutual understanding in a married couple to attend such classes for future dads. In addition, it is quite natural that during pregnancy, everything related to it and the upcoming birth worries many women the most, and all these issues require discussion.

If among your friends or acquaintances there are currently no pregnant women, then it is optimal to discuss such issues in a circle of like-minded people - expectant mothers who, like you, are concerned about this range of problems. Often the friendships and friendships formed during such courses are maintained after the birth of children.

Classes in the gym or swimming pool will help future parents master the techniques of breathing during childbirth, relaxation, pain-relieving massage and self-massage, not in theory, but in practice, to bring them to automatism, which in a childbirth situation will allow them not to fall into confusion or panic, but will allow them to effectively apply all these techniques. Physical activity (in the absence of contraindications) helps women prepare for childbirth, strengthen the muscles involved in this process, increase the overall endurance and preparedness of the body, which has a beneficial effect on the course of pregnancy, childbirth, and the physical and emotional state of mother and baby.

A balanced approach

So, having figured out what courses there are for pregnant women and what services they provide, let’s look at all the pros and cons of attending such courses.

"AGAINST". The most common statements made by opponents of various courses for pregnant women are the following:

  1. Until relatively recently, there were no courses, yet children were given birth. This point also includes popular statements about our more distant ancestors, whose families, as a rule, had many children, women gave birth in the field, and began their usual work almost immediately after giving birth.
  2. All the necessary information can be obtained from friends, relatives, a doctor monitoring the pregnancy, and can also be found independently in books, in pregnancy magazines, in specialized television, radio programs and, of course, on the vast expanses of the Internet, which is replete with a variety of resources on topics of interest.
  3. It is better to use the time and money spent on courses for other purposes; the physical activity necessary for pregnant women can be obtained during walks, independent exercise at home or visits to the pool, sports complexes, fitness clubs, etc.

“FOR” the opinion of those who have a negative attitude towards courses for expectant mothers:

  1. Supporters of these views lose sight of the fact that in the relatively distant past, firstly, girls, especially in villages, necessarily had experience communicating with pregnant women, attending childbirth, and handling babies, who were usually nursed by the older daughters or younger sisters of the woman in labor. Secondly, in addition to having many children, there were also extremely high mortality rates for both women during childbirth and the postpartum period, and newborn babies. Thirdly, in the recent past, in the absence effective methods pain relief and the use of traditional, far from natural conditions, methods of labor and delivery, many of our mothers and grandmothers had not the most pleasant impressions of their stay in the maternity hospital and the process of childbirth itself.
  2. Of course, observation during pregnancy and childbirth by a good doctor whom you trust, as well as communication with friends and relatives who have given birth, is a significant help in preparing for childbirth, largely compensating for not attending any courses. However, it is necessary to take into account that your part of the work (and childbirth is, of course, the work of both the woman and the child) neither the best doctor, nor your family and friends, nor anyone else will do for you. Every expectant mother needs to have at least a basic understanding of pregnancy, what to take with her to the maternity hospital, the periods of childbirth, how to reduce painful sensations during childbirth, about proper breathing during childbirth, etc. Otherwise, confusion and fear, aggravated by the unknown and against the background of pain, can seriously complicate the birth process. There is no shortage of theoretical information now, but it is often contradictory in different sources, and a person who is not experienced in this topic is not always able to understand it, so there may be even more questions, and therefore uncertainty and fears. It is even more difficult to obtain practical skills on your own.
  3. In some situations, in particular if you have personal successful experience of pregnancy and the birth of a baby, such a decision may be correct. In other cases, it will most likely be more useful to attend courses. In addition, swimming or doing water aerobics with other expectant mothers during special sessions for pregnant women is certainly safer than visiting the pool at “general” times with ordinary visitors. It is preferable that sports instructors have experience working with pregnant women, which, of course, is not always guaranteed in ordinary fitness clubs and gyms.

Regardless of what kind of birth a woman is facing, in most cases she experiences anxiety. Childbirth preparation courses are designed to give the expectant mother peace of mind and confidence so that she can truly enjoy her pregnancy, such a special period in her life.

We recommend starting to attend childbirth preparation courses starting from the 12th week of pregnancy. At this stage, the first screening has already been completed, and expectant mothers saw a small miracle on the ultrasound. It is during this period that many tell their loved ones about their “interesting situation”; they come to realize what path they have to go through before giving birth, and how their life will change after.

Maternity courses can be attended either alone or with a partner. If a couple is planning a partner birth, this is especially true. If the partner is not going to be present at the birth, courses can still be useful for him, especially classes with a pediatrician, because dads also have to care for the baby. In addition, joint attendance at courses for pregnant women brings spouses closer together, helps the paternal instinct awaken faster, allows a man to understand what changes occur in a woman’s body during pregnancy, how they affect the mood and general condition of the expectant mother.

The main task of the school of motherhood is to normalize the psycho-emotional state of pregnant women and prepare for childbirth. Lectures at this unusual school are given by doctors, and lecture topics are divided by pregnancy semester. There will be no intermediate tests at this school, there will only be an exam, for which you will grade yourself.

Why do I need this?

Are you confident in yourself, know one hundred percent how the birth will go, don’t worry about anything and don’t have a single negative thought in your head? Congratulations! So, you work as a gynecologist and you know everything yourself. Or you are just a very rare lucky girl.

For all the rest, mere mortals, this material was written. The character of the future adult, his resistance to various troubles, the ability to stand up for himself, the ability to enjoy life and love others largely depends on how a child goes through his birth marathon. Favorable circumstances arise due to the correct attitude of the mother during childbirth, her love, constant support, confidence and calmness, which the baby absorbs even before birth.

In addition to theoretical knowledge, expectant mothers find themselves “lucky friends”, women just like them with whom they can discuss everything current problems, health, preparation for childbirth. This gives greater confidence and psychological relief.

They teach at school, they teach at school

When preparing for childbirth, the expectant mother should learn a lot of important and useful information: the ability to “control the body” during the birth process and use various comfortable positions, massage of biologically active points during contractions, a conscious attitude towards pain and the implementation of all proposed measures of pain psychoprophylaxis (breathing, relaxation), psychological preparation, information about the birth process.

An approximate prenatal preparation program looks like this:

1st trimester (1st - 3rd months of pregnancy)

  • Life before birth (gynecologist)
  • Therapeutic gymnastics (physical therapy doctor)

2nd trimester (4 - 6 months)

  • Hygiene rules during pregnancy (gynecologist)
  • Therapeutic gymnastics
  • Mom is a nurse (pediatrician)
  • Child care (psychologist)
  • Joyful anticipation
  • Video "From Conception to Birth"

3 trimester (7 - 9 months)

  • Therapeutic gymnastics
  • Feed your baby correctly (pediatrician)
  • Small world of a small child (psychologist)
  • Birth of a miracle
  • Legal consultation
  • Preparing for childbirth without fear (gynecologist)

Psychological preparation

Childbirth is a huge stress for a woman’s body. If you skillfully use the skills taught at the school of motherhood, you can reduce injuries to both mother and child and overcome the stressful state with minimal losses.

But no less important than the physical state is the psychological attitude. The mother needs to establish emotional contact with the child. Training programs can help with this.

Main directions of psychological trainings:

  • Positive and negative feelings and experiences associated with pregnancy
  • Using resources and unlocking new opportunities own body
  • Working with fears and concerns about pregnancy and childbirth
  • Passing and correcting your own birth
  • Awareness and experience of aggressive feelings, acquisition of ways to control them and constructive way out of conflict
  • Acquiring skills in pain-relieving massage and breathing during childbirth
  • Developing greater attention to your feelings and sensations, which will help you better understand yourself and other people
  • In the process of preparing pregnant women for childbirth, a favorable emotional environment is purposefully created in theoretical and practical classes. A psychologist develops in pregnant women a feeling of vigor, optimism, and self-confidence. This is facilitated by the good health of pregnant women and their presence in a friendly, close-knit group of pregnant women.
