And, unfortunately, we will be wrong in our doubts.

Why, unfortunately? Yes, because we really want there to be no room for heroic deeds in our lives. Because heroic deeds often have to be performed by one, because of the negligence and carelessness of others.

This, however, does not make the surprise and admiration for modern heroes any less. Just as there are no fewer heroes themselves who are ready to sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. Here are the most striking examples of this.

1. A real colonel

This is the biggest story right now. In the Urals, the colonel covered with himself a grenade that a soldier accidentally dropped. This happened in military unit 3275 in the city of Lesnoy, Sverdlovsk region, during an exercise on September 25. The sergeant, apparently, was confused or lost in thought; there is even talk that the day before he played computer games all night and did not get enough sleep, so he did not hold the grenade with the pin pulled out. She rolled on the ground. The soldiers froze in horror. In general, you can imagine these terrible moments. Only the unit commander, 41-year-old Colonel Serik Sultangabiev, was not at a loss. Without hesitation for a second, he rushed to RGD-5. And the next moment there was an explosion.

None of the soldiers, fortunately, were injured. The colonel was urgently taken to the hospital, where medical teams operated on Serik Sultangabiev for 8 hours straight. As a result, the officer lost his left eye and two fingers on his right hand. The bulletproof vest saved his life.

Now Colonel Serik Sultangabiev has been presented with the Order of Courage. The documents necessary for this have already been sent to Moscow by the Ural command of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

2. Solnechnikov’s feat

Of course, when talking today about Sultangabiev’s feat, he is immediately compared with the feat of another officer - Sergei Solnechnikov. Major from the city of Belogorsk Amur region. Became a Hero of Russia posthumously. He also covered a grenade that one of his soldiers dropped during a training exercise. An explosion occurred and the officer received numerous injuries. An hour and a half later, he died on the operating table of a military hospital. The wounds turned out to be incompatible with life. So the major, at the cost of his own life, saved hundreds of his subordinates. I did it without hesitation. Last August he would have turned only 34 years old. In honor of Major Sergei Solnechnikov, both in his hometown of Volzhsk and in Belogorsk, where he served, monuments are erected and streets are named in his honor.

3. Saved 300 people

Another hero, who was remembered at the end of September in his native Buryatia and talked about raising funds for the construction of a monument in his honor, has not yet received such an honor. Aldar Tsydenzhapov, a sailor of the Russian Pacific Fleet, died in the fall of 2010 while serving on the destroyer Bystry. Aldar, at the cost of his life, prevented a major accident on a warship, saving the ship itself and 300 crew members from death. The 19-year-old guy received the title of Hero posthumously...

4. A ship in honor of a hero

And in the Irkutsk region, at the end of September, a ship named after the hero-rescuer: “Vitaly Tikhonov” was launched. The completely restored ship was named in honor of the tragically deceased deputy head of the Baikal search and rescue team. Vitaly Vladimirovich died during training camps. He spent 25 years rescuing people, participated in more than 500 search operations, and saved more than 200 people. It was not possible to save him...

5. Hollywood is taking a break

The other day, the head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kaluga Region, Sergei Bachurin, presented traffic police inspector Evgeniy Vorobyov with a valuable gift and thanked his mother Valentina Semyonovna.

Evgenia Vorobyov will also be awarded by the Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev. A corresponding submission to the minister has already been prepared. How did Vorobyov distinguish himself? On the birthday of his hometown of Kaluga, Evgeny Vorobyov managed to stop a car that was rushing at high speed straight towards a column of carnival procession participants walking along the central street. The policeman managed to jump into the car at full speed and press the brake. The car dragged the policeman along the asphalt for several meters and stopped literally a few centimeters from the people. After that, the policeman pulled the drunk driver out of the car and tied him up. Agree, such scenes can only be seen in Hollywood action films, and all the stunts are performed by well-trained stuntmen. Meanwhile, this was done by a simple traffic police officer.

6. In honor of a fellow countryman and a real Cossack

These days in Volgograd region remember their heroic fellow countryman. At the end of September, a monument to the Cossack Ruslan Kazakov was erected on the Nagolny farm, Kotelnikovsky district, Volgograd region. He himself voluntarily went to Simferopol to ensure order during the referendum on the status of Crimea, to ensure order there.

Kazakov served as part of a local Cossack self-defense unit. On March 18, he was patrolling the territory of a military unit. At that moment, his young colleague, an 18-year-old guy, was shot in the leg by a sniper. Seeing that the younger comrade had fallen, Ruslan Kazakov rushed to him and covered him with his body. And he was immediately killed by the next shot. Posthumously Ruslan Kazakov was awarded the Order of Courage. A monument was erected in his honor in his homeland.

7. Hero-traffic cop

A traffic police officer from Saratov, risking his life, blocked the path of an out-of-control truck.

Police lieutenant, traffic police regiment inspector for Saratov Daniil Sultanov stood at the intersection. The prohibitory traffic light came on. And suddenly Daniil saw an out-of-control truck rushing down the road, hitting cars and unable to stop on its own. Then Daniel blocked his way with his car and thus stopped the speeding truck, which was sweeping away everything in its path. Daniel was able to save a dozen lives. The traffic police inspector himself escaped with a concussion.

In total, 12 cars and 4 people were injured in the accident. The incident could have ended in a terrible tragedy if not for the heroism of Daniil Sultanov.

No one in the country keeps special statistics, but if they existed, it would probably become clear how many people, thanks to heroes, continue to live. Someone was rescued from a fire, someone was pulled out of a pond. These people always come to help themselves, they are not called, they are not asked for it. And not only in our country. While on vacation in Israel, three residents of Saratov saved a drowning mother and child and a woman. For which they were awarded medals. If not for them, mother and son would have died.

In May 2012, for saving a nine-year-old child, a twelve-year-old boy, Danil Sadykov, was awarded the Order of Courage in Tatarstan. Unfortunately, his father, also a Hero of Russia, received the Order of Courage for him.

At the beginning of May 2012, small child fell into a fountain, the water in which suddenly turned out to be under high voltage. There were a lot of people around, everyone shouted, calling for help, but did nothing. Only Danil made the decision. It is obvious that his father, who received the title of hero after worthy service in the Chechen Republic, raised his son correctly. Courage is in the Sadykovs’ blood. As investigators later found out, the water was energized at 380 volts. Danil Sadykov managed to pull the victim onto the side of the fountain, but by that time he himself received a severe electric shock. For his heroism and dedication in saving a person in extreme conditions, 12-year-old Danil, a resident of Naberezhnye Chelny, was awarded the Order of Courage, unfortunately posthumously.

The commander of the communications battalion, Sergei Solnechnikov, died on March 28, 2012 during an exercise near Belogorsk in the Amur Region.

During the grenade throwing exercise, an emergency situation occurred - a grenade, after being thrown by a conscript soldier, hit the parapet. Solnechnikov jumped up to the private, pushed him aside and covered the grenade with his body, saving not only him, but also many people around. Awarded the title of Hero of Russia.

In the winter of 2012, in the village of Komsomolsky, Pavlovsky district, Altai Territory, children were playing on the street near the store. One of them, a 9-year-old boy, fell into a sewer well with ice water, which was not visible due to large snowdrifts. If it weren’t for the help of 17-year-old teenager Alexander Grebe, who accidentally saw what happened and did not jump into the icy water after the victim, the boy could have become another victim of adult negligence.

On a Sunday in March 2013, two-year-old Vasya was walking near his house under the supervision of his ten-year-old sister. At this time, Sergeant Major Denis Stepanov went to see his friend on business and, waiting for him behind the fence, watched the child’s pranks with a smile. Hearing the sound of snow sliding off the slate, the fireman instantly rushed to the baby and, jerking him aside, took the blow of the snowball and ice.

Twenty-two-year-old Alexander Skvortsov from Bryansk unexpectedly became a hero of his city two years ago: he pulled seven children and their mother out of a burning house.

In 2013, Alexander was visiting the eldest daughter of a neighboring family, 15-year-old Katya. The head of the family went to work early in the morning, everyone was asleep at home, and he locked the door. In the next room, a mother of many children was busy with the kids, the youngest of whom was only three years old, when Sasha smelled smoke.

First of all, everyone logically rushed to the door, but it turned out to be locked, and the second key lay in the parents’ bedroom, which had already been cut off by fire.

“I was confused, first of all I started counting the children,” says Natalya, mother. “I couldn’t call the fire department or anything, even though I had the phone in my hands.”

The youngest citizen of Russia to become a holder of the Order of Courage in our country is Evgeniy Tabakov.

Tabakov’s wife was only seven years old when the bell rang in the Tabakovs’ apartment. Only Zhenya and his twelve-year-old sister Yana were at home.

The girl opened the door without being at all wary - the caller introduced himself as a postman, and since it was extremely rare for strangers to appear in the closed city (the military town of Norilsk - 9), Yana let the man in.

The stranger grabbed her, put a knife to her throat and began to demand money. The girl struggled and cried, the robber ordered her younger brother to look for money, and at that time he began to undress Yana. But the boy could not leave his sister so easily. He went into the kitchen, took a knife and stabbed the criminal in the lower back with a running start. The rapist fell from pain and released Yana. But it was impossible to deal with the repeat offender with childish hands. The criminal got up, attacked Zhenya and stabbed him several times. Later, experts counted eight puncture wounds on the boy’s body that were incompatible with life. At this time, my sister knocked on the neighbors and asked them to call the police. Hearing the noise, the rapist tried to escape.

However, the bleeding wound of the little defender that left a mark and the loss of blood did their job. The repeat offender was immediately captured, and the sister, thanks to the heroic act of the boy, remained safe and healthy. The feat of a seven-year-old boy is the act of a person with an established life position. The act of a real Russian soldier who will do everything to protect his family and his home.

Young policeman Danil Maksudov hardly dreamed of glory when he led frozen people to rescuers through the snow and wind. This happened on the second of January 2016 on highway Orenburg - Ork. Then, due to a sudden snowstorm, hundreds of people were trapped in the snow. After the rescue operation, more than 10 people with hypothermia were hospitalized.

25-year-old Danil led people through the wind onto the highway, where rescuers were waiting for them (their equipment was unable to get through to the stuck cars). Maksudov gave the jacket to the frozen child and the mittens to the girl. He himself suffered frostbite on his hands and lost his fingers as a result.

Sergey Ganzha

A young resident of the village of Shipunovo, Sergei Ganzha, saved a drowning five-year-old girl in the summer of 2016 and was nominated for an award from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. The incident occurred on August 26. A 17-year-old boy was returning home from fishing along the banks of the Klepechikha River. On the way, his attention was attracted by the cry of a boy calling for help. It turned out that his little sister was in trouble. The guy jumped into the water with a running start and began diving, trying to find the child in muddy water. The depth was at least six meters, and the strong current made the search much more difficult. After the fourth attempt, the guy was able to find the girl at the bottom and pulled her ashore. Sergei Ganzha began performing artificial respiration and chest compressions on the child. A few minutes later the child began to breathe. After this, the young man called an ambulance, and the victim was taken to the Shipunovo district hospital.

A native of the Altai Territory, crew commander of the Su-24 bomber Oleg Peshkov flew a combat mission in Syria on November 24, 2015. The bomber was shot down by the Turkish military and fell on Syrian territory. The crew managed to eject. But Peshkov was killed during landing. He was posthumously awarded the title Hero of Russia. In the village of Koshikha, Altai Territory, a street is named after him.

Major Dmitry Ostroverkhov knocked the grenade out of the soldier’s hands into a trench, and pushed the private himself out of an earthen shelter. And he covered the falling fighter with his body. The private escaped with a slight fright, and the major was seriously wounded.

Alexander Belyaev and Alexander Golushchak

In March 2005, at the Zelenchuksky training ground, private Dmitriev dropped a grenade right under the feet of the soldiers and officers who were in the trench. Major Alexander Belyaev, who was nearby, managed to shout “grenade!”, threw the soldier out of the trench and covered him with himself. Another major, Alexander Goluschak, covered the rest of the soldiers with himself at this time. Private Dmitriev had to write an explanatory note addressed to the unit commander. On January 16, 2003, at the Kamyshinsky training ground in the Volgograd region, conscript soldier Daniil Bondarev dropped a grenade with the safety removed at his feet. Yuri Sergeevich Igitov - hero posthumously

Igitov’s platoon was surrounded by Dudayev’s fighters. Most of the comrades died under numerous enemy shots. The brave private, at the cost of his life, covered the retreat of the surviving soldiers until the last bullet. When the enemy advanced, Yuri blew up a grenade without surrendering to the enemy.

Evgeniy Rodionov - faith in God until the last breath

After this, the privates were captured.

For about 100 days, the soldiers were subjected to torture, severe beatings and humiliation. Despite the unbearable pain and the threat of death, the soldiers did not remove their pectoral crosses. For this, Evgeniy’s head was cut off, and the rest of his colleagues were shot on the spot. For his martyrdom, Evgeniy Rodionov was awarded posthumously.

Yanina Irina is an example of heroism and courage

The exploits of Russian soldiers today are not only the heroic deeds of men, but also the incredible valor of Russian women. The sweet, fragile girl took part in two combat operations as a nurse during the First Chechen War. 1999 became the third test in Irina’s life.

August 31st became fatal. At risk for her own life, nurse Yanina saved more than 40 people by making three trips in an armored personnel carrier to the line of fire. Irina's fourth trip ended tragically. During the enemy counter-offensive, Yanina not only organized the lightning-fast loading of wounded soldiers, but also covered the retreat of her colleagues with machine gun fire.

Unfortunately for the girl, two grenades hit the armored personnel carrier. The nurse rushed to the aid of the wounded commander and 3rd private. Irina saved the young fighters from certain death, but did not have time to get out of the burning car herself. The armored personnel carrier's ammunition detonated.

For his valor and courage he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. Irina is the only woman who was awarded this title for operations in the North Caucasus.

Maroon beret posthumously

The exploits of Russian soldiers these days are known not only in Russia. The story about Sergei Burnaev leaves no one indifferent. Brown - that’s what his comrades called the commander - was in the “Vityaz”, a special division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was possible to reach the opponents only by going through an underground hole. Sergei Burnaev went first. The opponents opened fire on the fighter, who was able to answer the call of the militants in the darkness. Without hesitation, Sergei Burnaev covered the grenade with his body, thereby saving his colleagues from certain death.

For his accomplished feat, Sergei Burnaev was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. Beslan: no one is forgotten

Schoolchildren from the Krasnodar region Roman Vitkov and Mikhail Serdyuk saved an elderly woman from a burning house. While heading home, they saw a building on fire. Running into the yard, the schoolchildren saw that the veranda was almost completely engulfed in fire. Roman and Mikhail rushed into the barn to get a tool. Grabbing a sledgehammer and an ax, breaking out the window, Roman climbed into the window opening. An elderly woman was sleeping in a smoky room. They managed to get the victim out only after breaking the door.

“Roma is smaller in build than me, so he easily got through the window opening, but he couldn’t get back out with his grandmother in his arms in the same way. Therefore, we had to break down the door and this was the only way we managed to get the victim out,” said Misha Serdyuk.

Residents of the village of Altynay, Sverdlovsk region, Elena Martynova, Sergey Inozemtsev, Galina Sholokhova, saved children from the fire. The owner of the house committed the arson by blocking the door. At this time, there were three children aged 2–4 years and 12-year-old Elena Martynova in the building. Noticing the fire, Lena unlocked the door and began to carry the children out of the house. Galina Sholokhova and the children’s cousin Sergei Inozemtsev came to her aid. All three heroes received certificates from the local Ministry of Emergency Situations.

And in the Chelyabinsk region, priest Alexey Peregudov saved the life of the groom at a wedding. During the wedding, the groom lost consciousness. The only one who was not at a loss in this situation was Priest Alexey Peregudov. He quickly examined the man lying down, suspected cardiac arrest and provided first aid, including chest compressions. As a result, the sacrament was successfully completed. Father Alexey noted that he had only seen chest compressions in movies.

In Mordovia, Chechen war veteran Marat Zinatullin distinguished himself by saving an elderly man from a burning apartment. Having witnessed the fire, Marat acted like a professional firefighter. He climbed up the fence onto a small barn, and from there climbed onto the balcony. He broke the glass, opened the door leading from the balcony to the room, and got inside. The 70-year-old owner of the apartment was lying on the floor. The pensioner, who was poisoned by smoke, could not leave the apartment on his own. Marat, opening front door from the inside, carried the owner of the house into the entrance.

An employee of the Kostroma colony, Roman Sorvachev, saved the lives of his neighbors in a fire. Entering the entrance of his house, he immediately identified the apartment from which the smell of smoke was coming. The door was opened by a drunk man who assured that everything was fine. However, Roman called the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The rescuers who arrived at the scene of the fire were unable to enter the premises through the door, and the uniform of an EMERCOM employee prevented them from entering the apartment through the narrow window frame. Then Roman climbed up the fire escape, entered the apartment and pulled out an elderly woman and an unconscious man from a heavily smoky apartment.

A resident of the village of Yurmash (Bashkortostan), Rafit Shamsutdinov, saved two children in a fire. Fellow villager Rafita lit the stove and, leaving two children - a three-year-old girl and a one-and-a-half-year-old son, went to school with the older children. Rafit Shamsutdinov noticed smoke from the burning house. Despite the abundance of smoke, he managed to enter the burning room and take out the children.

Dagestani Arsen Fitzulaev prevented a disaster at a gas station in Kaspiysk. Only later did Arsen realize that he was actually risking his life.
An explosion unexpectedly occurred at one of the gas stations within the boundaries of Kaspiysk. As it turned out later, a foreign car driving at high speed crashed into a gas tank and knocked down the valve. A minute of delay, and the fire would have spread to nearby tanks with flammable fuel. In such a scenario, casualties could not be avoided. However, the situation was radically changed by a modest gas station worker, who, through skillful actions, prevented the disaster and reduced its scale to a burnt-out car and several damaged cars.

And in the village of Ilyinka-1, Tula Region, schoolchildren Andrei Ibronov, Nikita Sabitov, Andrei Navruz, Vladislav Kozyrev and Artem Voronin pulled a pensioner out of a well. 78-year-old Valentina Nikitina fell into a well and could not get out on her own. Andrei Ibronov and Nikita Sabitov heard the cries for help and immediately rushed to save the elderly woman. However, three more guys had to be called in for help - Andrei Navruz, Vladislav Kozyrev and Artem Voronin. Together the guys managed to pull an elderly pensioner out of the well.
“I tried to climb out, the well is shallow - I even reached the edge with my hand. But it was so slippery and cold that I couldn’t grab the hoop. And when I raised my arms, ice water poured into my sleeves. I screamed and called for help, but the well is located far from residential buildings and roads, so no one heard me. How long this lasted, I don’t even know... Soon I began to feel sleepy, with the last of my strength I raised my head and suddenly saw two boys looking into the well!” – said the victim.

In the village of Romanovo, Kaliningrad region, twelve-year-old schoolboy Andrei Tokarsky distinguished himself. He saved his cousin who fell through the ice. The incident occurred on Lake Pugachevskoye, where the boys and Andrei’s aunt came to skate on the cleared ice.

A policeman from the Pskov region Vadim Barkanov saved two men on. While walking with his friend, Vadim saw smoke and flames of fire escaping from the window of an apartment in a residential building. A woman ran out of the building and began to call for help, since two men remained in the apartment. Calling the firefighters, Vadim and his friend rushed to their aid. As a result, they managed to carry two unconscious men out of the burning building. The victims were taken by ambulance to the hospital, where they received the necessary medical care.
